4 Stars!

When I sat down to read this book, I really expected a light, fluffy romance. I expected to read a book about people frolicking on the beach simply because of the cover. I ended up being completely wrong about what this book was going to be because it ended up being so much more than I expected. In fact, this book was absolutely excellent. I love reading about second chance romances and this was an excellent example.

Aiden is the kind of man I love to read about. He is a handsome professional baseball player who has hit a bump in his career. He does the right thing even when it isn't the easy thing to do. He is not easily influenced by others and takes care of the people that he cares about. Lily was equally likeable. She is a leader in the community and fights hard for what she believes in. She is a hard worker and she is tougher than most men.

Aiden left Seashell Bay to pursue his baseball career and he hasn't looked back. In fact, he has only returned to the island once since leaving. The book starts with his return for the second time. This time he is in town to deal with a pending sale of his family's land. The deal can only go through if Aiden agrees and the impact of his decision would affect everyone on the island. Lily has remained in Seashell Bay running her own fishing boat. She has strong opinions about the future of the island and her way of life.

Lily and Aiden were never officially a couple before Aiden left the island but they both had strong feelings for each other. Both have dated other people during their years apart but remain single. They quickly realize that the spark they felt in high school is still there years later. The chemistry between the pair was amazing.

The writing in this book was wonderful. I found myself hoping that Lily and Aiden could figure out how to make things work. I fell in love with the island and all of the colorful people living there. I was completely pulled into the story wondering what would happen to this island and how Aiden and Lily would deal with Aiden's decision.

I would highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This was the first book by the writing pair of V.K. Sykes that I have had a chance to read but I look forward to reading more in the future. I would love to know what else happens in Seashell Bay.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.
